OVERWEIGHT
Any person who is overweight increases their chances of sleep related breathing disorders significantly. By losing even 10% of your weight you can dramatically improve the quality of your sleep. Excess weight may put strain on your body to the point where it cannot function normally. Finding out how your weight is impacting your sleep is a fairly simple process.

We can discuss your symptoms over the phone and/or recommend an easy to use, home sleep study that will give us accurate data about your sleep patterns. You do not necessarily have to participate in a sleep study at a sleep lab to make an initial assessment of your situation. Obesity is a growing concern in this country and its impact goes far beyond a person’s appearance. Excess weight and poor sleep can be directly related.

Whether you are 20 pounds or 200 pounds overweight, it is important to identify potential sleep and breathing problems before they become serious health problems. Which came first the excess weight or the sleep problems? Many weight loss experts agree that to lose weight and keep it off a good night’s sleep is very important.

If you exhibit any of these symptoms please contact us for a home-based sleep study or further assessment by a qualified physician.

These are some of the treatment technologies associated with being OVERWEIGHT.  To get background information go to our Technology section or click on one of the links below.

CPAP - Continuous Positive Airway Pressure
Devices:
S8 Elite, S8 Escape, Tango, Everest 2, Breathe X, Remstar Plus, M-Series, 420 Series, 600 Series thermosmart

Bi-Level - BiPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) and VPAP (Variable Positive Airway Pressure)

APAP - Auto Adjusting Positive Airway Pressure

Non-invasive Ventilation Defined - Sensing devices in this technology recognize a sleeping patient’s poorly functioning diaphragm (non-functioning respiratory muscles) and gives the patient a quick breath as needed. This may also include people with a non-functioning drive to breathe - such as patients with central sleep apnea.
