SLEEP APNEA TREATMENTS
Bi-Level Ventilation Defined
BiPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) and VPAP (Variable Positive Airway Pressure) are types of Bi-level Ventilation treatments used to improve breathing for conditions such as lung disease, sleep apnea. It works by providing airway support by blowing air into the airway, usually through a mask that covers the nose.

The pressure is increased when the patient breathes in and decreased when breathing out. This makes it easier for patients who have difficulty breathing spontaneously at their own depth and rate. BiPAP/VPAP can allow the respiratory muscles to rest and thereby reducing the work of breathing.

Some of the devices we recommend are the VPAP III S and 425S. More details on these units, the manufacturers and the specific applications are found in our detailed Technology Section.
