Physician Apnea
WARNING: Sleep Apnea Affects One in Four of Your Patients
Many physicians are not trained to look
for these symptoms. It's barely addressed in most medical schools
and it's only recently beginning to show up on the radar of more
seasoned physicians. Most doctors acknowledge that sleep apnea
and disease-related breathing problems can be very serious but
unfortunately most are still unaware of the depth of this problem.
Here are the warning signs of sleep apnea in question form. Ask
your patient (and his/her significant other) these questions:
|
Do you snore quite loud? |
|
Do you stopping breathing or gasp
for breath during sleep? |
|
Do you doze off or feel overly
sleepy watching television, driving, or while engaged in daily
activities? |
|
Do you have difficulty sleeping
several nights a week? |
|
Do you have trouble falling asleep
and wake frequently? |
|
Do you wake too early and can't
get back to sleep? |
|
Do you experience sleep interruptions
such as bad dreams, heartburn, pain, or discomfort? |
|
Do you have a decreased sexual
drive? |
