Part of any treatment plan is the financial impact. Insurance factors are important to the treatment program. Here are the Respiratory Assist Device (RAD) qualifying guidelines for insurance reimbursement of progressive neuromuscular disease. At least one of the first three is required in addition to #4, a diagnosis of progressive neuromuscular disease.

1.
An overnight oximetry demonstrating oxygen saturation less than or equal to 88% for at least five minutes, done while breathing the patient's usual FI02.
2.
Maximal Inspiratory Pressure (MIP) of less than -60cm H20.
3.
Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) less than 50% predicted
4.
A diagnosis of progressive neuromuscular disease
